UNIQUE NEW SERVICE UNVEILED
"Ask Jimmy" Auto Repair Advisory
SHERMAN OAKS, CA. -- July 20, 2001 --
"Ask Jimmy", this young busy company introduces themselves to prospective customers in the San Fernando Valley. "Ask Jimmy" Auto Repair Advisory, as the company is called, was recently founded by Jimmy Butler, a former MasterMechanic and Engineer with over 40 years of automotive experience.
When asked why here, why now, Jim, or Jimmy as he is affectionately known by the people who use his service, replied - "Well I have actually been helping people get their cars to the right shop for the right repair and making sure that all is as it should be for years. Friends and relatives mostly. Lately it's been friends of friends and friends of relatives. The fear seems worse then ever, when they need to go to a shop, I mean. They don't know if they need all the stuff they're being sold or if they do need it, how much it should cost. They just have to say, "OK, fix it" and hope for the best. "It's really no way to spend hundreds of dollars!"
"It seems it's women who have it the worst, for some reason, but I think men get it (deceived) just as bad, but are too embarrassed to admit it. Now and then I'll hear 'I've got a great mechanic, he really knows his cars and he's honest too.' I can't help but think to myself, - How would you know, you're an accountant and you just told me you don't know anything about cars."
Jimmy told me in our interview that he equates the way he thinks auto repair should be with the insurance business. He said "when you need insurance you don't go to the company directly, you call an agent, they have access to all different companies and types of insurance. They use what they know to pick and choose and put a custom package together for you to work from. Then they charge the insurance company, not you. That's how it really needs to be now-a-days."
Jimmy continues, "And since everyone is so busy, and most are not expert in the auto repair industry, I've decided that the time was right to use my many years of experience and help out those folks that seem to be constantly getting hosed. When they call me, I not only diagnose the problem, and select the proper shop for the job, but monitor all the repairs, make certain only needed repairs are done, keep the price fair since I know how much work goes into each job and what it should cost, and road test each car. My pleasure really is to see that someone has been saved from the shenanigans, not uncommon in this business. My customers really like what I do for them, and this makes me feel great!
"Now Jimmy my engine has been making a clunking sound since......... "
